National Cathedrals Conference 2026 – Speaker Presentations
Our Cathedrals: What is the spiritual, social, economic and cultural impact of our Cathedrals?
How do we serve our communities in this season of church?
Why are we here? Why are we relevant?
Find out at the National Cathedrals Conference 18-21 May, 2026
New research that examines the spiritual, economic, and cultural impact of our cathedrals will be shared for the first time at the third National Cathedrals Conference held in Bristol next May.
The research findings, commissioned by the AEC and produced by Theos and State of Life, will inform the backdrop to the conference discussion and debates.
Over the four days, keynote speakers from a range of disciplines spanning politics, public life, theology and academia will help us reflect on the role our cathedrals play in the life of the nation today, while vibrant panel discussions and workshops will help us grapple with the role of these sacred spaces and important heritage sites in the life of the nation and the communities we serve.
In addition to the research, we will also benefit from the wisdom and experience of our hosts at Bristol Cathedral, exploring with them the themes of contested heritage, racial justice and how to form fresh new narratives for today’s world. With help from a youth panel, we will explore: ‘What is it to be a Cathedral?’ and understand how we engage with secular issues such as AI, and Cultural Heritage.
Come and join us.
This is a space for all cathedral clergy, lay staff, and chapter to gather, reflect and celebrate our cathedrals’ roles in the life of our nation.
